The Recreation Department's main office is located at the Spencerville Arena. Mike Spencer is the Township's Recreation Director. E-mail mspencer@twpec.ca
The Recreation Department operates from three areas in the Township. The Spencerville Arena is located in the Village of Spencerville. Over the past years, Township Council has made some major improvements to the arena. This arena is known as one of the finest in the area. Located adjacent to the arena are two regulation size soft ball diamonds with lights. These diamonds are used by the local minor ball, blooper ball, and men's fastball leagues.
The second recreation area is located in the small community of Johnstown. There, the Township has the South Edwardsburgh Community Centre. This beautiful hall is used for various activities during the year (wedding receptions, meetings, family picnics, etc.). Also at this location is the Johnstown Community Pool (613-925-5822) which operates during the summer months. The South Centre also has two regulation size soft ball diamonds (one with lights), three beach volleyball courts, two tennis courts, three horse-shoe pits and a soccer field.
The residents of this small community have formed a group called the South Edwardsburgh Recreation Association (SERA). This small but mighty group has raised thousands of dollars over the past 15 years and has made some major improvements to the hall, pool and grounds.
The third recreation area is in the Village of Cardinal where the Township operates the Cardinal Community Pool, located on 4011 Dishaw Street (613-657-4504). Across the street from the community pool are two full-size ball diamonds (one with lights), tennis and basketball courts. At the waterfront in Cardinal the Township maintains a large picnic area with volleyball and horse shoe pits.
